"...The relaxation response induces a profound state of deep rest, which when practiced and applied to our daily lives, can alter how we respond to physical and emotional stress. The music of Merrill Collins is, in my view, important in facilitating the transition into this state of deep relaxation." —Dr. Michael Irwin, Cousins Center for Psychoneuroimmunology / Jane & Terry Semel Institute for Neuroscience & Human Behavior

Merrill Collins: Within You (Lullaby for Bobby) [feat. Phil Cordaro & Laura Halladay]

Within You (Lullaby for Bobby)

featuring feat. Phil Cordaro & Laura Halladay

Within You (Lullaby for Bobby) is a track we made for Bobby Resciniti, who is one of several wonderful new children that have been born into my family. I couldn't figure out what gift to send for his first birthday and decided to make a piece for him. At the studio we passed around his picture so we could be playing music to him as if in person.

The song is a flute, guitar, and grand piano arrangement with improvisations over descending lines that brings to life various scales from distant times and lands. Within You (Lullaby for Bobby) is over ten minutes long, providing a relaxing theme for nursing or naptime.
